Your reviews are always so entertaining to me and I sincerely appreciate how promptly you type them up and put them on the site. Reason why I enjoy them so much is because you write what I’m feeling so eloquently thus whenever someone asks me how I felt about a certain episode more often then not I refer them to your review(s). In my honest opinion while funny this episode was still cringe worthy during certain scenes (i.e. the opening scene where Leonard’s insecurities flare way out of proportion to the point where you want to slap some sense into him or whack him over the head just to get him to shut the f*ck up). And though I love Sheldon and Jim P to pieces and usually don’t mind when he gets a fair ammount of screen time (since he usually saves episodes for me) it was really frustrating to see him be a foil to the LP story-line yet again specially when TPTB decided to portray him as the child to Leonard’s and Penny’s daddy and mommy roles … yes I cringed!

Moving on; I loved how in your opening paragraph you mention that you’re playing “devil’s advocate” with regards to the LP ‘relationship’ thus subtely pointing out that thecommon opinion with regards to what makes TBBT great is not LP at least not in this episode(such that they need someone to play devil’s advocate for it to make sense at all).

Again awesome review and I agree with the following statements so much!

This: Leonard and Penny reconciled when they shifted into a parental role for a child-like Sheldon, which reduces his character and compromises theirs in ways I don’t think the show really wants to deal with

This: I think this is an episode which shows that the writers are already to the point of using, rather than developing, the story, which says to me that it’s about time that this couple (and not the couple on the other CBS Monday comedy I watch) get back together as friends.

&

This: Hey, that sort of works for Leonard and Penny too: the chemistry is theoretical, but the pain is real!

I always enjoy reading your reviews, and it hits on everything I think about this show in a much more eloquent way than my jumbled collection of thoughts. This was a funny episode, but I think that the writers have at this point milked the Leonard and Penny relationship for all it's worth (however little that was in the first place). It's frankly degrading both of their characters, and I very much enjoyed Penny in the previous seasons and as a character she is more than capable of carrying a storyline, especially with someone OTHER than Leonard. Jim Parsons knocked me dead with his performance tonight, but he can't always have the job of saving an otherwise mediocre episode. I hope that the writers aren't doing as you said and shrugging off how Leonard and Penny are the weak point of the season.

For the record, Howard and Raj DO have a fandom. It's not very large, but it's substantial.
